Work Package 5



System Integration and Performance Evaluation

WP5 consists of integrating the electrical drive into the application (vehicle) and demonstrating the drive on the test bench.

The first task is to integrate all sub-components taking into consideration the need for industrialization. The possible mass production and production costs are viewed for the machine and converter. During this process slight modifications of the motor design might be required to make it more suitable for mass production. In this case the changes will be implemented in the simulation design tools and if required other parameters have to be modified in order to ensure that the desired overall performance is still achieved. The same applies for the power electronics and the control.

A DFM (Design for manufacturing) and a DFA (Design for assembly) analysis will be conducted, with the perspective of overall system integration.

A further task will be the demonstration of the system performance based on the test bench results. Different operating points and operating modes of the drive will be evaluated and compared to the simulations conducted in the previous tasks. Acoustic measurements are also made to verify the made predictions.
